Hi, just saw this and for anyone doing this and struggling with the circlip, there is a circlip in between 3/4th gear and 6th gear. Tempoarily slide it towards the 3/4th gear. Then slide (again towards the 3/4th gear) the washer, 6th gear and 2nd gear. This gives easy access to the circlip groove on the end of the shaft. Fit the circlip then slide back all gears washers and circlips towards the end of the shaft. Also goes without saying, this is the way to remove the circlip on disassembly.

Hello Steve. My name is Tom from Sacramento California. I have a Locost 7 That had a Toyota engine and California is giving me trouble because the original person that started this build was 3 owners ago and they want the VIN of the donor car back in 1986. So I have an extra F20C & tranny I can put in that I do have Vin's on but a friend told me to think about the Hayabusa GSX1300. I'm looking at the pros and cons. I have a 2002 Honda S2000 so I am a little familiar with the engine. I use the 7 for track days and drive around the foothills with my Lotus club friends. The megasquirt ignition burn up the grounds at a local track and the person I sent it to stole it. No kidding. He's in Chicago 2600 miles away. I just removed the engine this morning and I'm looking at my options. Already found some things to fix and change. The Locost has an open 4:30 rear that is too low for road course. I have a first gen RX 7 diff. that is posi and 3:90. It looks like the advantages of the Hayabusa is weight, shifting (less chance of missing shifts and less clutch work going up through the gears), cheaper to run and maintain. engine not sticking below the frame and not needing a scoop or bubble on the hood. Cons: a lot of shifting for normal street driving. Reverse. Not sure of what else. I know they have a reversing box but not sure how it works, how much or where to get it. The Hayabusa has an Automatic version. No clutch??? How does that work? Is it any good. I'm looking at Hayabusa's on auction sites. I think getting a complete salvage bike might be better than trying to find just an engine. Manual or Automatic ???? Any help would be appreciated. Your videos look great. I got to drive a Westfield in Thailand at a track east of Pattaya called Bira. Named after a Thai F 1 driver way back.

I had the same problem in my hayabusa 2002 in the case it was exactly that selector fork ... I think it must be an engineering failure ... I decided to change the gearshift ... congratulations on the video

So .. when I got it right, the former owner streched the circlip to much during maintenance, and it came off. The end cog-wheels were allowed to slide and the dogs only just, or not engaged: dog-wear accelerated until failure. Well done; good research, have fun with the car!

hello pal my friend has a westfield and is looking to put a busa in it, we cant find anywhere to get engine mounts for the mesgabusa, searched far and wide. phoned westfield and they wouldnt give us the blue prints haha, anychance you know anywhere or would be able to provide some pics of some, drop me a reply cheers.
